Cranial osteopathy is a gentle, specialised treatment that helps release tension and restore balance—ideal for babies, pregnant women, and those in pain.
A lot of the stress we feel in daily life stems from the ways our bodies have adapted to past experiences. Events like accidents, illnesses, or injuries can leave behind lingering tension and strain. While our bodies are remarkably capable of adjusting and often heal naturally over time, unresolved issues can accumulate and eventually affect our overall well-being. This buildup may lead to pain, stiffness, or discomfort in various parts of the body.
Cranial osteopaths specialise in detecting the underlying causes of such symptoms. They assist in releasing built-up tension and guiding the body back to a balanced state, which can ease discomfort and help prevent future issues. This area of osteopathy is a highly specialised field, typically pursued through advanced training. Using gentle touch, cranial osteopaths assess areas of tension or imbalance to understand their origin, effects, and the kind of care needed for recovery. Due to its gentle nature, this approach is especially well-suited for treating babies, children, and pregnant women. It can also be very effective in managing intense pain, such as acute back or neck problems.

What does Cranial Treatment feel like?
During a cranial treatment, the osteopath gently holds various parts of your body to help restore balance. Although it’s called “cranial,” this method can be used on the entire body, not just the head.
While being treated, people may notice different sensations, like light pressure or a sense of warmth. Many find themselves becoming deeply relaxed, feeling as though tension is slowly melting away. For some, the technique is so subtle that they barely notice anything during the session—but later report feeling much better.
In addition to relief from specific symptoms, patients often experience increased energy, improved sleep, and a greater overall sense of well-being.
